Damp and Wet

The rain couldn't come any sooner.

It had been humid the past few days, especially during the afternoon. I had the unfortunate time of basking in all of its brain melting heat glory when I home to Malacanang.

While I was doing the laundry yesterday, the sky began to darken and I thought that it was going to rain after. I had to rush and finish my chore and I possibly pulled some muscles because of it.

The rain apparently started to pour today. It would've been ideal to just stay in bed and sleep, but I had work. Bummer. The slow downpour brought me a joy I normally feel when the rainy season start. Others may feel introspective and just chill whenever it rains, but I feel different. I feel more energized. Its as if the rain revitalizes something inside of me and makes me want to do more.

And I did just that. I ran several software tests on my laptop, deleted some old files, read a couple of chapters of a book, and even manage to write this blog. Heck, I even took a nap because I could sneak that in the things I could accomplish today, Harhar.

I hope that everyone is safe and dry today. Be with your friends and family and make this a cuddle day for you to remember!

Snoozing Out

For the past couple of days, I have been missing out on my normal sleep time. It's so bad that I have to take a nap while working or else I stop functioning normally.

That is why I'm hitting the sack early. Enjoy your day.

Sleeplessness

I had planned to go back to Malacanang today. The plan was to leave at 4 AM. I went to bed around 7 PM after Allan left for work. I know for a fact that I did not take a nap that afternoon nor had I consumed soda. I even overworked myself a bit to be sure that I'll be tired. To my surprise I was wide awake. From 7 PM to 4 AM. I debated on whether to still leave for Malacanang but I was too sleepy by that time to make the trip and I was afraid that I won't be very alert. So I finally slept around 5 AM after making sure that Allan has something to eat when he gets home at 6 AM.
   That was one weird night.

Winning

Today called for some celebration. I managed to not take a nap this morning and continued working all throughout the entire day. I even managed to accompany female parental unit to go to church at noon and come back after a couple of hours. I think what allowed me to power through the morning and keep my eyes open was the fact that I went to bed early and gave myself a couple of minutes more of sleep before waking up. I did not experience getting drowsy while working and even managed to watch a couple of television shows without dozing off. Yey for me.
I guess the downside is, if ever there is one is that I took a 10 minute nap this afternoon. I'm still waiting for the effects. Haha.

Nipping the bud

So I've managed to wake up early for work. And it's been consistent. What I didn't notice early on is that I tend to sleep in the middle of the day. Not the nap kind of sleep. What I would do is after waking up at around 5 am and work until around 7 or 8 am, I would go to sleep and wake up an hour later. After waking up, I continue where I left off and work for about 20 to 30 minutes. After that I would go to sleep again for an hour. This process repeats around three to four times and it's not fun.
I don't feel energized or refreshed. To add to that, I tend to be more lethargic and lazy. The plan is to nip this unproductive sleep and try my best to keep myself awake the entire morning. Good luck to me then.

Long but not so hard

I start my day early. I wake up around 4-5 am to prepare for my 6 am shifgt. But since y work doesn't really rake out a lot of energy, I never get tired after my shift ends. Today though was different. I decided to do the laundry. I put the clothes into the washer and left it there, then moved on to my next task. Buy ingredients to cook before Allan gets home. So I immediately went to the nearby vegetable stand and bought the things I need. When I got back, I proceeded to take out the clothes and put he second load in. While the washer was doing its business, I started hanging the clothes outside to dry. Once I was done with that, I checked my work email to see if there was anything I need to look over. After doing that, I started prepping and went to cooking lunch. By the time I was done, the second load of clothes had finished and I went to hang them out as well. I went back to work and finished some tasks there. Allan came home so we had lunch. After which I went back to work and work on some future gig requirements. My shift ended and I took a quick shower closed up shop then traveled back to Manila. After resting for a couple of minutes I took a bath and decided to work some more. While I was drying my hair I decided to close my eyes for 5 minutes.

I woke up 2 hours later.

Didn't realize I was that tired or the water that I used when I took a bath was laced with sleeping agents.

Nappy Time

photo from blog.thehoya.com

When I was young, I hated taking naps. Whenever we were in the province, this was strictly enforced because it was supposed to make us grow taller. At seven years old, I knew they weren't telling the truth. It even went as far as me telling my mother that the only reason we're being "forced" to taking naps is because the adults (them) are lazy and deemed them irresponsible.

Through the years, taking a nap in the afternoon has somehow found its way into my system. Now I can't go on a day without shutting my eye for half an hour in the afternoon, especially right after eating. There were times when my nap would go for about several hours which would leave me awake the entire night. Fine tuning my nap time has led me to better sleep in the evening. Knowing what time I should hit the sack at night gives me an idea when to take a nap and how long it should be. It also has allowed me to be more alert especially when I'm working. I don't feel anxious whenever I do the tasks given to me.

Basically, everyone who naps has his or her system in integrating this into their daily lives. Though some might view it as a waste of time or makes them feel like they're missing out on something, napping is one of those pleasures that does not require a lot of money or effort. And I feel like people should be doing this.

   So nap away.
